One of the topics that President Trump talked about was women including what they have done for our country and their rights. The judicial branch deals with the rights of the people and this is on a both state and federal level. This was a big part in his speech and although it was in the middle of his speech, he gave it a lot of attention. President Trump talked about women’s rights and accomplishments in a somewhat persuasive way. He mentioned how much women has changed how Congress works, mentioning that the United States had a record breaking election of 117 women being elected to Congress in 2018. He also mentioned how great women are doing job wise in the United States. He said that “no one has benefited more from out thriving economy than women, who have filled 58 percent of the newly created jobs last year”. There wasn’t a proposal to do anything, but rather he just acknowledged the accomplishments that women have made in the U.S.. I do agree with the argument he made though. Women have done a lot for this country and are thriving in the jobs they have in the country. The overall tone of the president on this topic was great. He didn’t really stress bipartisanship in my opinion but rather acknowledged and complemented what they have done and the accomplishments they’ve made so far. He did although have a tone of Congress and the POTUS working together.

I totally agree with the fact that though it was not at the beginning of his speech, he gave it a lot of attention towards the middle where he brought the idea about. The population of women being elected into Congress was most definitely significantly raised from just this last year, and the President of the United States, Donald Trump, seems to believe these numbers will remain rising. The most beneficial piece of information given here, was that 58 percent of the newly created jobs were filled by the female population. The overall tone on the topic was great, I totally agree with that. I like the tone of this speech, and he seemed to make just about everyone in the room happy while discussing this topic.

The topic I will be covering is Abortion, this topic was brought up during the 2019 State of the Union (SOTU) address. Abortion was not the largest issue brought up during the talk but he seemed to have a very large opinion on the laws Virginia and New York have lately brought up. The President of the United States, Donald Trump stated that he wanted to propose legislation of Virginia and New York’s abortion laws illegal. President Trump proposed the legislation, that then needs to be passed by the legislation and will eventually wind up in all states that decide to abide by it. If it turns out to be a federal law, all states will have to go by the rule and follow it no questions asked. President Trump talked on this topic towards the end of his speech, but I do not think he meant to downgrade the topic of it. President Trump was not what I would call persuasive on the topic, he just clearly gave his opinion. I agree with what he had to say, I am pro life and anti abortion, so yes I agree 100%. I am not sure what his tone was on who was supposed to be working with together on this, he just seemed to state his opinion to everyone in the building and everyone watching from home.

This is all great information, Courtney. This year’s State of the Union was one for the books as a lot of the topics he discussed were very controversial. It’s going to be interesting to see how this plays out. Such as if the United States will make abortion laws illegal, what states will follow these laws, if this will become a federal law or not, or if it does, what states will protest against it? I would say that he was, if anything, somewhat persuasive on the topic. He gave us opinion and what his plans are and a large amount of Republicans liked his idea.

Abortion has been a very controversial topic, especially within the past month or two. I agree with you that although he talked about abortion towards the end of his address, he was not trying to downgrade it at all. With everything that has been happening in the government within the past couple of months, I feel that he simply just had so much to talk about. I am pro choice, but I believe that an abortion during the third trimester, or up to the time of delivery should be illegal. Trump also mentions Governor Ralph Northam and the scandals that have been revolving around him briefly. Trump gave his honest opinion and on this topic, I could not agree with him more.

Attempting to control immigration by building a wall was one of Donald Trump’s campaign promises, so people expected him to talk about it in his State of the Union address. Lately, the government has been shut down because Trump has been asking for money in order to fund the wall to control immigration, but he has not gotten the money yet. Congress has ten more days to pass the bill to fund the wall until the government is shut down again. He talked about immigration almost right off the bat, so it is extremely important to him. The reasoning behind this is because illegal immigrants are smuggling drugs through the border; they also use the holes in the border to bring women into the US to sell them into prostitution. Trump thinks that building a wall will keep this from happening. His argument was extremely convincing to urge the government to pass this law and give him the money to fund the wall. I agree with this argument because smuggling drugs and human trafficking should not be brought into the US, but I also disagree with this argument because I think instead of building a wall, like North Korea, start by making border security stronger. If the US builds a wall, then we will seem like an unfriendly country who wants to keep everyone out. I also disagree because what happens to the illegal immigrants who have been in the US for many years and have built a life and a family for themselves. They go back to their countries with nothing and have to start over. The government has to work together in order to pass this bill because the federal government is divided. In order for Trump to get any money, he must compromise with the House of Representatives and the Senate.

I agree that increased border security is a must, because of the illegal things that are being brought into our country. I do not think there will ever be something that can end immigrants illegally crossing the border, but the wall will decrease the number. I do not necessarily agree that the wall is the best thing that could be done, but it does have benefits, for example, it provides jobs. The government shutdown is ridiculous to me and something needs to end this standoff between congress and the president.

I did not catch this part of the speech, but it seems like it would have been very touching for him and everyone attending. I'm sure that congress will work with the President Trump on his budget plan to get the money for research on childhood cancer. This is a big problem everywhere around the world and I am glad that the U.S. is trying to make a change.

Infrastructure is a major issue coming up because the budget will be placed in a couple of weeks. Trump stated that bridges and roads need to be rebuilt stronger to adapt to a warming world as he addressed climate change within this issue. Trump proposed that the country needs not to just repair roads and bridges, but to totally rebuild in order to withstand the next major hurricane or other natural disaster. He promoted bipartisanship to get this done more efficiently.

One of the topics briefly discussed by President Trump in his State of the Union address is childhood cancer. He introduced him to a little girl named Grace, who had just finished chemotherapy and had no cancer. President Trump said he will use $500 million in the US federal budget to fund childhood cancer research. This budget is considered by Congress, so his request must be finalized by Congress. Research can be conducted at the state and federal levels. Although he discussed this topic at the end of his speech, he sounded very passionate about what he needed to do, hoping that one day he could find a cure for childhood cancer. The president used a personal story when discussing this topic. In my opinion, this is very important to him. I fully agree with his advocacy of more research on childhood cancer as it is becoming more common. There is a lot of money for research, opening up many possibilities for more in-depth experiments and techniques. The President stressed that this is a work that needs to be completed as soon as possible and requires the joint efforts of all parties.

One thing that Donald Trump talked about during his State of the Union address was the tax cuts in which he had implemented early on in his Presidency. The tax cuts affected State and local taxes and would save an average family nearly 2,000 dollars per year. The tax cuts were monitored by the Internal Revenue Service, which regulated the amount of state taxes cut. Trump give this topic a high priority in his State of the Union Address, bringing it up early into his address and describing the tax cuts as some of the largest in history. By describing these tax cuts, he convinced many that the tax cuts were for the best, aimed at blue collar working class families, despite some being skeptical at the tax cuts, claiming that they could hurt the economy. I agree with the tone in which Trump describes the cuts, mainly due the fact that after these cuts, the stock market would rise in value and hard working families began to take home more of their paychecks. The tone was bipartisan, although many Democrats objected to the tax cuts, claiming that the cuts were mainly aimed at Republican majority states and that it should be taken away and that it could hurt the economy.

The topic i will choose is Education. The President Trump has promised to invest $20 billion in education during his tenure so that students can choose institutions at their own discretion. And support for charter schools; and slam the teacher union; he also promised to abolish the core curriculum; and advocated the abolition of Hillary’s debt-free college proposal; Trump pledged to immediately invest $20 billion in government grants for college selection. This plan and proposition makes students living in poverty have priority when they choose their favorite institution. Trump believes that this initiative will not only enable poor students to attend colleges with good teaching quality, but also the operation of the market will gradually complete the education system. For families with annual incomes of less than $125,000, Hillary advocates that their children can enjoy tuition-free policies in public institutions. Trump does not have much to do with higher education. . Clovis pointed out that Trump will spare no effort against Hillary's debt-free university policy. I am very much looking forward to the improvement of education.
